My name is Electra, and this is my story.
I was born in a small town in Kentucky. That was the year my Grandmother died, and the day Miss Everything won the Breeders Cup Classic. My Grandfather says that i look just like my mother did when she was growing up. My father left my mother and i when i was three. Mom says that his reason for leaving was that he didn't want to screw me up. Yeah, right.
The good thing that came from that is that my mother and i went to live with Grandfather Mathew at his ranch.
Living on Liberty Ranch was a blast. Besides having thousands of acres to roam, though mom wouldn't let me leave the stable yard in the beginning, there were all the horses. Thoroughbreds, everywhere. Grandfather put us up in a ranch bunk house near the barn.
We've now lived her for 13 years. Every christmas, mom keeps promising that we're going to move out, and get our own place, and every year, Grandfather tells her to stay, and we keep staying.
January, 1999, the best mare foaled. Mother, grandfather, the vet and I were there when it it happened. Now, this mare, Miss Everything, is about 20 years old. She was the mare that won the Breeders Cup Classic the day i was born. After we moved here, she became my special friend, and once i was old enough, Grandfather made me her groom.
Anyways, we were all there with Missy, Miss Everything, for this foaling. Mom usually didn't come to the foalings, but this was going to be Missy's last foal, and she knew how much Missy ment to me. Grandfather always came to every foaling, for every mare, and then there was the vet.
Doc Jacobsen was our on site vet. He just moved here a week ago. He says his family will be moving here as soon as they sell their old house. He hasn't said much about his family, except that he has a wife, two sons and a daughter.
((TBC))
