This isn't really a fanfic, but its a story...

My name is Electra, and this is my story.

I was born in a small town in Kentucky. That was the year my Grandmother died, and the day Miss Everything won the Breeders Cup Classic. My Grandfather says that i look just like my mother did when she was growing up. My father left my mother and i when i was three. Mom says that his reason for leaving was that he didn't want to screw me up. Yeah, right.

The good thing that came from that is that my mother and i went to live with Grandfather Mathew at his ranch.

Living on Liberty Ranch was a blast. Besides having thousands of acres to roam, though mom wouldn't let me leave the stable yard in the beginning, there were all the horses. Thoroughbreds, everywhere. Grandfather put us up in a ranch bunk house near the barn.

We've now lived her for 13 years. Every christmas, mom keeps promising that we're going to move out, and get our own place, and every year, Grandfather tells her to stay, and we keep staying.

January, 1999, the best mare foaled. Mother, grandfather, the vet and I were there when it it happened. Now, this mare, Miss Everything, is about 20 years old. She was the mare that won the Breeders Cup Classic the day i was born. After we moved here, she became my special friend, and once i was old enough, Grandfather made me her groom.

Anyways, we were all there with Missy, Miss Everything, for this foaling. Mom usually didn't come to the foalings, but this was going to be Missy's last foal, and she knew how much Missy ment to me. Grandfather always came to every foaling, for every mare, and then there was the vet.

Doc Jacobsen was our on site vet. He just moved here a week ago. He says his family will be moving here as soon as they sell their old house. He hasn't said much about his family, except that he has a wife, two sons and a daughter.

((TBC))

Oh gosh, off the subject again, my bad. Okay so Missy is having her foal. I slipped into the stall, and went over to her head. Missy was an old pro at this, but wen i looked into her eyes, i could tell she was having problems.

"Grandpa, this ones gonna be hard for her" i spoke in a soothing voice to keep her from spooking.

Grandpa leaned over the stall door. He pushed his hat back, and worry filled his eyes. "Dont worry Baby, she'll manage just like she always does" he said in an equally soothing voice.

The contractions began to come swifter and harder, and everytime Missy grunted with pain, i winced in fear.

Doc Jacobsen opened the stall door, slipped in, and shut it behind him. Missy's eyes flashed toward his direction, and she grunted with another contraction. I placed my hand on her cheek.

"Easy baby, he only wants to help" i assured her.

"Here come the feet" Doc Jacobsen anounced.

Not taking my eyes away from hers for a second, i listened to Doc's play-by-play of what was happening.

Finally, the doctor spoke relieving words, "And we've broke the sack" he announced, and we all took a sigh of relief.

"Good girl" i murmered, patting Missy's cheek. "Well done" she gave a low nicker in response as she rolled over onto her legs.

Doc Jacobsen finished his rutine check on the foal, and stood up, exposing it. I glanced over at it, and gasped. The foal wasn't any form of brown, which we all thought it would, because both Missy and its sire, Give Your All were chestnuts, but no, this foal was white!

Now, i'm not talking about grey white, but blindingly white! Freshly fallen snow white! All of us stood in a a quiet shock, until Missy grunted with joy, and shuffled her way over to her foal, and began licking it clean with little grunts and nickers of joy.

The doctor and I made our way to the stall door, and exited, giving the foal and Missy their time alone.

The doctor shook his head and looked over at Mathew.

"I dont know what to tell you Mathew. From the check, looks like you got yourself a healthy colt. Spirited too." he added, looking into the stall.

We all looked into the stall to find Missy on her feet, coaxing the white colt to his own feet. Once he had gathered his feet and legs under himself, he shuffled his way over to Missy, found the teet, and began sucking away noisily.

Missy heaved a sigh as did I. The foal was fine. Different, but fine, and Missy was okay too. The doctor was finishing his talk with Grandfather, and Mom placed an arm around my shoulders.

"He sure us a beauty, isn't he" she asked with a squeeze

I smiled, "Yeah, he is a beauty" and then I caught the end of Grandfathers conversation.

"....So you finally sold the house?" Grandfather asked

Doc Jacobsen nodded, "The family will all be coming up this weekend with the rest of our stuff" he told him.

I leaned on the stall door as the foal dropped back down to the ground and curled up for a nap. Missy made her way over to the door, and placed her chin on my shoulder.

Hmmm... so they're moving up with weekend... I better be here to greet them... i thought as i placed my hand on Missy's cheek

((Oh lord, i finally finished this chapter, YAY!))

That weekend, i stood outside Missy's stall, and watched the little white foal. He was standing in the middle of the stall, eyes closed, tail flicking back and forth. Missy stood by the stall door, her head resting on my shoulders.

Missy shifted her feet, and the foal's ears flicked toward the two of us. Missy's ears flicked back toward the foal, and i sighed.

Suddenly, Missy lifted her head from my shoulder, and looked down the aisle. I turned my head, and a few seconds later, Grandfather entered my view. I laughed, gave Missy a pat on the nose, and made my way toward Grandfather.

Grandfather smiled when we met, took me by the arm, and we began walking with me outside.

"Are you ready to meet Eric's family?" he asked me.

I shrugged, "I guess, why, are they here?" i asked as we go through the doors

"Eric just called, they're gonna be here in about 10 mins." he told me.

I nodded my head, and wiped my hands on my jeans and pulled my hair out of its ponytail, and fixed it around my shoulders. Grandfather chuckled.

"Now, dont you go teasing those boys missy. They've traveled long. Leave them alone, at least until Monday" he teased with a chuckle. I smiled.

"Whatever you say Grandpa" i replied
